About PWM

PWM stands for (Pulse Width Modulation). It is also called a duty cycle signal, which indicates the ratio of the duration of the high level to the entire signal cycle. The entire PWM cycle is 2ms, 1.5ms stop, 1.5-2ms forward, and 1.5-1ms reverse.

From the figure, we can clearly see that when PWM is 75% (1.5ms), the motor stops rotating, when PWM is 50% (1ms), the motor rotates in the reverse direction, and when PWM is 100% (2ms), the motor rotates in the forward direction. Of course, ESC not only allows the motor to rotate forward and reverse, but also adjusts the speed of the motor rotation by the duty cycle of PWM. When PWM gradually changes from 75% to 50%, the motor will continue to reverse and accelerate from stop until the reversal reaches the maximum value. When PWM gradually changes from 75% to 100%, the motor will continue to accelerate from stop to forward rotation until the forward rotation reaches the maximum value. That is to say, PWM is a signal that can change continuously, and the effective range is from 50% to 100%.

The frequency of PWM signal is 50hz, 100hz, 200hz or 500hz, etc. The higher the control frequency, the shorter the cycle, the shorter the control interval, the faster the ESC and motor respond, and the faster the ESC and motor respond. Conversely, the lower the control frequency, the longer the cycle, the longer the control interval, the slower the ESC and motor respond.
