How does brushless ESC work?

Posted by Fengyukun on

A brushless motor governor, also known as a brushless ESC, is an electronic device used to control the speed of a brushless motor. The main function of a brushless motor governor is to control the speed and steering of the motor, allowing the motor to adapt to different work loads and operating environments.

The working principle of a brushless motor governor is based on the induction potential of the motor and the operating characteristics of the electronics. The main components of a brushless motor governor include the power tube, the control circuit and the sensor.

The power tube is the core component of the brushless motor governor and is responsible for controlling the current of the motor. The control circuit is used to control the working state of the power tube and consists of a control chip, resistors, capacitors and switches. Sensors are used to detect the speed and position of the motor, thus providing feedback to the control circuit.

The working process of a brushless motor governor can be divided into two stages: the motor starting stage and the motor running stage. During the start-up phase, the brushless motor governor outputs a certain amount of current through the control circuit, causing the motor to start rotating. At the same time, a sensor will detect the motor's speed and position and feed back to the control circuit. Based on the feedback from the sensor, the control circuit will adjust the operating state of the power tube so that the speed and position of the motor can reach the set value steadily.

During the motor running phase, the brushless motor governor will adjust the on time and off time of the power tube according to the control signal, so as to control the motor's speed. When the load on the motor changes, the sensor will detect the change in motor speed and position and feed back to the control circuit. The control circuit will adjust the operating state of the power tube according to the feedback information from the sensor, so that the motor speed can be steadily adapted to the load changes.

In summary, the brushless motor governor achieves precise control of the brushless motor by controlling the on-time and off-time of the power tube and adjusting the motor speed and steering according to the motor speed and position information fed back by the sensor. With the advantages of fast response time, high control accuracy, low noise and long life, brushless motor governors are widely used in machinery manufacturing, automation control, aerospace and other fields.
