PWM speed control knob use method

Posted by Fengyukun on

This article explains how to use the pwm knob.
Firstly, it explains the functions and parameters of this product and the requirements for its use.

(Figure 1)

There are three scales above the PWM knob, respectively: 1ms, 1.5ms, 2ms, these parameters indicate the throttle travel of the ESC, 1 is the lowest throttle, 1.5 median throttle, 2 is the highest throttle.
It is also the pwm signal 1-2ms.
When using one-way ESC, 1ms is the lowest throttle travel, that is, zero position, in this position the propeller will not run, need to be adjusted to the 1ms position of the power supply, the ESC can pass the self-test, can be used normally.
When using two-way ESC, 1.5ms is the neutral stroke, which is the zero position, in this position the propeller will not run, it needs to be adjusted to the 1.5ms position to power up the ESC in order to pass the self-test, and then it can be used normally.

(Figure 2)

Pwm's three sockets, there are three symbols, G: indicates the negative pole, v: indicates the positive pole, s: indicates the signal, pwm speed knob needs to be connected to the 5v power supply to be able to use normally.

The following is a demonstration using a 30a bi-directional ESC.

(Figure 3)

Connect the propeller 3-phase wire to the ESC 3-phase wire.
Connect the signal line of the ESC with the pwm (before connecting, the knob needs to be adjusted to 1.5ms), the signal line is inserted into any of the three ports, pay attention to the direction of the connection, the white line (signal line) is facing downward, (this ESC comes with 5v power supply, such as the use of no power supply of the ESC, you need to connect an external power supply to the 5v module).

ESC connected to the power supply, wait for the ESC to pass the self-test can be used.

(Figure 4)

Twist the knob, the propeller runs.
Twist it towards 2ms, the propeller is forward out of the wind, the throttle is: 0-100%.

 (Fig. 5)

Twisting towards 1ms, the propeller discharges air backwards, the throttle is: 0-100%.

If the wind is not in the right order, you can change the direction of rotation of the paddles by switching the position of two of the three-phase wires.

Below is a demonstration using a 45a bi-directional ESC, connecting the three phase wires of the motor to the three phase wires of the ESC.

(Figure 6)

(Figure 7)

(Figure 8)

Since the 45a ESC does not have a built-in power supply module (bec), an external power supply module is required to power the receiver.
Connect the xt60 plugs of the ESC and the power supply module to the adapter cable.
Plug the ESC signal cable into the pwm connector, any one of the three ports, pay attention to the direction of the connection, the white wire (signal wire) facing down.

Insert the output plug of the power supply module into the pwm interface, any one of the remaining ports, with the red wire facing down (pay attention to the direction of the connection, do not insert the opposite).

ESC connect to the power supply, wait for the ESC to pass the self-test can be used.
Twist the knob, the propeller runs.
Twist towards 2ms direction, the propeller forward out of the wind, the throttle is: 0-100%, as shown in Figure 4;.
Twist towards 1ms direction, the propeller backward out of the wind, the throttle is: 0-100%, as shown in Figure 5.
If the wind is not in the right order, the three-phase wire of which any two wires, switch the position can be changed to change the direction of rotation of the paddle.

  (Figure 9)

The following demonstration uses an 80a unidirectional ESC to connect the propeller three-phase wires to the ESC three-phase wires.

Connect the signal wire of the ESC with the pwm (before connecting, you need to adjust the knob to 1.0ms), the signal wire is inserted into any one of the three ports, you need to pay attention to the direction of the connection, the white wire (signal wire) is facing down.

 (Figure 10)

The ESC is connected to the power supply, wait for the ESC to pass the self-test can be used.
Twist the knob, the propeller runs.
Twist towards 2ms direction, the propeller is forward or backward out of the wind, the throttle is: 0-100%.

(Figure 11)

Unidirectional ESC can only emit air in one direction
If the wind is not in the right order, you can change the rotating direction of the paddle by switching the position of two of the three-phase wires, as shown in Figure 9.

If not in use, please disconnect the power supply.

Ps: When purchasing, please check the parameters in detail, or ask our customer service staff.
